Children
Turning Three is Hard Work!
My dear friend Elizabeth put on the cutest party for her adorable son Quinn who was turning three. Sometimes my very favorite pictures from kids birthdays (or any photo sessions) are not always the smiley ones – I like the mix of introspective, intense feelings that young kids don’t yet edit away – the intense anticipation of the cake, the cake, the excitement of seeing friends, all of the little guys busy, busy, busy. The freedom of play. Childhood.

Almost 5 and wearing 4
Realized it’s been forever and a day since I’ve posted and even taken pics of my little guy – he’s almost 5 and went to town with posing. He’s recently taken up Tai Kwon Do and Karate. The unfailing confidence of an almost 5 year old is kind of inspiring – A proclaimed that he could chop up my veggies with his hands – I almost believe him

San Diego – Gorgeous – Sunny – So Cal
Went for a visit down to San Diego the other weekend to hang out with my sister. San Diego is really just a relatively quick drive down the 5. Only took the camera out once for a quick portrait session with my nephew and my son. I “should” have brought my camera to Point Loma – breathtaking landscape – amazing views and amazingly uncrowded. Kind of the antithesis of everywhere around Los Angeles. Next time. Next time.

A wow facility for La Cañada Presbyterian Church and photos of kids at play.
Took a bunch of photos for LCPC Parent Education Program. The facility is beautiful and the mommies and kids were having so much fun. When I was editing the photos Archer looked at them and said “can I go there?….now? Please?”. Me, I love it – taking photos of toddlers, it’s pretty much my very favorite activity and well, I was thinking it would be nice to go there with Archer – we’ll see how my schedule looks like come January and how it fits into his school, that is down the street that he LOVES!

Halloween = Costumes Candy and Fun
It’s that time of year when sugar is free flowing and costumes are ever-present for lively bright subjects. Most kids LOVE to vamp in their costumes. Normally shy children will often be at ease when dressed up as someone else. So go ahead and ask them to “growl like a monster” or twirl like a princess or whatever costume related pose they can do – to get an extra oomph to your pics. Happy Halloween!

Boys will be….well, boys
Went to Berkeley for a family trip and went to a Cubs vs. Giants game at the AT&T park. I choose not to bring my big camera to the park and got there and was sorry I didn’t. So much raw emotion and excitement from the crowd watching the game. The park was beautiful, and even knowing the bare minimum about the teams and the sport – the spectacle of a live game at the park is truly exciting. Took a bunch of photos the next few days to make up for it. Archer frowning, scowling, smiling, yelling shouting and then Charlie who also was hamming it up.

Eli – Beachwood Canyon
I had the pleasure of photographing Eli on vacation with his father from New York last month. One of my favorite places to take photos is a local park in the Hollywood Hills near the bat caves. Lots of trees and a great place to play and run around and perfect for a little boy.
